Dispatch 13: Post / Stress
Words and Photography MICHAEL TUCKER
Broken concrete is scattered across the old pre-stress - where the bulk of the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, the longest bridge over water, was once prepared for construction. The lot sits behind the scenic Sunset Point, a resting home for gators, fishermen, and signs warning of manatee. The ground is hard but fertile, and was once home to large graffitied concrete structures. Since knocked down, yesteryear's teenage playground now lays waste with little foot traffic - another suburban renewal project left unattended.
